Childcare at the HoPla-Kinderhaus

The HoPla Kinderhaus is one of two “Kulturkita” cultural daycare centers currently operating in Kassel and is also the largest daycare center run by the Studierendenwerk Kassel, located directly on the Holländischer Platz university campus.
It embodies a vibrant, diverse, and respectful culture in its daily educational practice.

We care for children from 12 months of age until they start school and have space for 86 children in 5 groups:

  • 3 infant groups (ages 1–3)
  • 2 preschool groups (ages 3 until school entry)

Our services are aimed at children of students and employees of the University of Kassel, as well as families from the surrounding neighborhoods of Kassel.

"Kulturkita" Cultural Daycare Center

Culture is part of our everyday life – Our magic word is “culture”: It shapes our daily interactions and our educational work.

A culture of welcome and diversity – We create a place on campus where children and families feel welcome and included, regardless of their background, language, or lifestyle.

Healthy Eating Culture – Our children receive a freshly prepared vegetarian lunch every day from the university dining services. Locally grown fruits and vegetables are part of this, as is our sugar-free morning snack. Through this, the children discover different flavors and develop a love for mindful and healthy eating.

Shaping Art and Culture Together – Children interact with artists and cultural professionals and experience art, music, language, creativity, and movement as forms of self-expression.

Diversity as Enrichment – Different families, languages, traditions, and perspectives come together, making our childcare center a special place for connection.

Children Help Shape the Experience – The children’s ideas, interests, and questions serve as the starting point for projects and the design of our daily educational activities.
