Study start-up grant for first semester students
The study start-up grant is a state subsidy of 1,000 euros for students who
- are starting their first semester have never been enrolled at a university or academy,
- are under 25 years old,
- have received social benefits such as citizen's allowance, housing benefit or child supplement in the month before starting their studies.
The study start-up grant is intended to help cover extra costs when starting at university - for example for a new laptop, moving to a new place of study or similar. The money does not have to be paid back.
You can apply for the start-up grant on the BAföG portal www.bafoeg-digital.de Log in there with your BundID and enter your details. Also have your certificate of enrollment and a current proof of receipt of social benefits ready.
