Subletting

Are you planning to study abroad for a semester, do an internship in another city for several months or take a semester off? If so, why not make your room or apartment available to other students - with our subletting application.

You can download the application form here.

Your benefits:

  • You save the rent for as long as your room or apartment is occupied by other students.
  • You're in control: You can choose your own subtenant and collect the rent for the sublease yourself.
  • There is no fee for subletting your room or apartment.

What else you need to know:

  • Subletting requires written approval from the appropriate file manager.
  • Apartments and residence rooms can only be sublet for periods ranging from three to six months.
  • You are liable for any damage to your room or apartment that occurs during the sublease.
  • The period of subletting counts toward your maximum residence period.
  • Each tenant is allowed to sublet once a year.
  • While your place is sublet, you will continue to pay your rent to us as usual. To do so, you will need to provide us with a SEPA direct debit authorization in advance.
  • We must receive your application at least two weeks before your desired sublet start date.
  • In addition to your application, we will need proof of your internship, semester abroad or holiday semester.

If you have any questions about subletting, please contact your Student Hall File Manager.

Please note: Student hall rooms cannot be sublet privately. If residents sublet privately, they risk being evicted without notice.
